Is your machine behind router?
Some PCs behind router are unable to transfer. So if you want to use 123Go to transfer files to a remote PC or Laptop, one of the PC needs to have direct access to Internet.
A router can be configured to give direct access in two ways:-
1- DMZ host: a machine can be set as a DMZ host which means that all external traffic to the router is redirected to this machine. The router IP becomes this machine public IP and acts like it has direct access.
2- Port Forwarding: this enables you to redirect traffic coming to the router on a given port to a specific port on a specific machine.
For example, mapping router port 2223 to port 34567 (123Go uses this port to transfer files and 31234 port for Chat) on your machine.
Port forwarding is the common technique used by administrators.
Connections can be done between two clients (A & B) in the following cases:-
1. (A) and (B) is on the same LAN or both have public IPs on the internet.
2. (A) or (B) has public IP and the other is behind a router.
3. (A) and (B) are both behind different routers, but at least one of the two routers is configured to allow incoming connections on a specified port.
Connections can't be done if both (A) and (B) are behind different routers without opened ports (this is the default for all routers).
We recommend that the Public PC has firewall/antivirus protection prior to making it public.
